Prospect is debuting at SXSW this weekend, and wow does it look cool. It is a sweet-looking indie sci-fi movie borne of a film short called In the Pines. Directed and written by Zeek Earl and Christopher Caldwell, Prospect tells the story of a teenage girl and her father as they travel to an alien planet to harvest mineral and gem deposits. The forest is toxic and full of not-so-friendly dwellers. The girl has to deal with all of that, along with competitors for the deposits. And when her father’s greed starts to endanger their survival, she has to make some tough choices in order to survive.
The stars of the movie are Sophie Thatcher, Pedro Pascal, Jay Duplass, Andre Royo, Sheila Vand, and Anwan Glover.
