Mortal Engines – As someone unfamiliar with Phillip Reeves’ Mortal Engines books, this first look teaser for the Peter Jackson produced film adaptation has me simultaneously perplexed and intrigued. I just might need to dive into the books before catching this steampunk epic when it hits theaters this December.

Annihilation – The first full trailer for Alex Garland’s adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s series of novels presents a unique sci-fi world of environmental and biological danger and beauty. Explore this new world when the film hits theaters on February 23rd.

Oceans 8 – An all-new Oceans caper produced by Oceans trilogy creator Steven Soderbergh and directed by Hunger Games director Gary Ross, this time with an all-female gang of thieves led by Sandra Bullock. I can’t wait for this one to steal the box office this June.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – Disney brings the Nutcracker story to new life, but it looks a lot like the Alice films to me. Disney is strategically releasing this one right around the start of the holiday movie season in November.

Coming soon to a streaming device or TV…

A Series of Unfortunate Events: Season 2 – Finally! A teaser and confirmation that season 2 of this incredibly fun family series is coming to Netflix in March!

The Polka King – Jack Black plays polka band leader Jan Lewan in this true story about polka and Ponzi schemes. The Polka King hits Netflix on January 12th.

Stargate: Origins – A new Stargate series with a nice Young Indiana Jones Chronicles vibe to it. The series is made up of 10-minute episodes that will air on MGM’s new Stargate streaming platform, Stargate Command, beginning on February 15th.

A Futile and Stupid Gesture – Will Forte leads a stellar comedy cast in the true story of National Lampoon. Prepare to laugh as this one arrives on Netflix on January 26th.
