Re-Roll: This Week’s Tabletop Game News for Week 4 of 2018

Featured Gaming Re-Roll Tabletop Games

The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending January 26, 2018.

  • The most exciting piece of news this week is yesterday’s announcement that Clank! (read our review) would be getting another expansion. It’s been a year since the Sunken Treasures expansion came out (read our review), so it makes sense to revisit the deck-building adventure game. This time, it’s The Mummy’s Curse, a scenario that seems perfectly fit to this wonderfully enjoyable game. Clank! In! Space! was GeekDad’s 2017 Game of the Year and we can’t get enough of this great game world. Look for The Mummy’s Curse in March.
  • Today’s image is from Dokmus.
  • Speaking of Renegade Games, they also announced this week that they were entering a partnership with Hunter’s Books to bring a number of RPG products under the Renegade umbrella. Read more about the first forays with the titles Outbreak.. and Kids on Bikes.
  • Speaking again of Renegade, they have a pirate-themed bluffing game on the way. Sabordage is a race to build your pirate ship to find hidden treasure. It’ll be great for players 9 and up and hits store shelves in March.
  • Lots of news about Renegade, yes. But they send me email. Hint, hint.
  • Asmodee Digital is bringing The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game to Steam for both PC and Mac. It’s not available yet, but you can gain access vis Steam’s Early Access program.
  • Polygon says tabletop games on Kickstarter grew by 36% last year, but analysts say the bulk of that growth came in the first half of 2017.
  • IDW is following up the brutally tough Outpost: Siberia (read our review) with Outpost: Amazon. No word if this version will be any easier, but at least we are guaranteed 100% fewer mutant Siberian bears. Look for it in March.
  • Psst, Star Wars Legion is coming soon! To whet your appetite a bit more, here are previews of Stormtrooper units and the Leia Organa Commander expansion.
  • On store shelves soon is Food Truck Champion from Daily Magic (read our review). Rule the streets as you compete with other mobile restaurants to be Food Truck Champion!
  • Uwe Rosenberg began a puzzle trilogy with Cottage Garden. The next installment is Indian Summer, which will be published in the US by Stronghold Games. In this one, you’re covering a forest floor with leaves. It has some twists that may challenge players and becomes available at retail next week.
