We Are Entertained-The Shape of Water

This week’s show is just full of delight. Delightful ramblings, delightful performances, delightful cinematic experiences. Just delightful! It might be a difficult ask in this busy award show season, but if it’s playing in your local cinema you have absolutely got to get out and see The Shape of Water. It’s going to get nominations, it’s going to be talked about, it’s going to be on your short list of favorite movies this year. Trust me. It’s delightful. Did I say delightful? Speaking of delightful, don’t forget our awesome Darkest Hour giveaway! Free stuff is absolutely delightful!

Chris kicks things off with a 2-for-1 special. He talked about the pilot of Amazon’s newest series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and we finally get the payoff as he shares the results of his marvelous binge of the full series. If you’ll recall, he predicted it was going to be fantastic way back when and it’s getting a whole lot of hype–does it live up to all of its promise?

Speaking of marvelous, Chris rambles in his typical rambly fashion and breaks all of the rules by giving us a second taste of his entertaining weekend. The long and short of it is that he has discovered a new band and hopes they will soon become a favorite of yours as well. There’s nothing like meandering down a dark and wintry street and hearing a wailing trumpet from a dive bar to inspire you to break the rules. Please, for the love of all that’s holy, check out Petunia and the Vipers and let us know what you think.

Matt continues his quest to see every movie named after a Paul Simon song and shares his experience watching The Only Living Boy in New York with us this week. Matt describes this artful project by one of his favorite directors, Mark Webb, and manages to intrigue us without spoiling the movie’s twisting and turning plot. You might be surprised at his take on another of Webb’s well-known works, 500 Days of Summer.
