A Peek Inside Comic Bento’s Monthly Subscription Box

Comic Books Entertainment Geek Culture Products Reviews

There’s not exactly a shortage of geeky subscription boxes out there. You probably have one or two already showing up at your door, right? Some are great, some not so much, and a vast majority fall somewhere in between. Most of them, though, just add junk to the pile. You end up with more fairly useless hunks of plastic or items you don’t really want.

If you’re a comics reader or are just dipping your toes into the world of graphic novels, you might want to consider today’s sponsor, Comic Bento–a monthly subscription box that delivers a diverse sampling of books to your door. What’s nice is that the books stray pretty far from mainstream superhero fare, though that can be included.

Comic Bento has lined up most of the major publishers, so you never know what’s going to arrive. Included could be books from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, IDW, Image, Valiant, Titan, Dynamite, Oni, Zenescope, Aspen, or Archie.

Every month is a different theme (for example, December’s box is called Legacy), and every box comes with four full-length graphic novels. They promise at least a $50 value in each box, and at $25 (plus S/H) for just a one-month subscription, you’re getting a pretty solid deal. Subscriptions for 3, 6, and 12 months are better deals.

In addition, all of the books they deliver are either stand-alones or first volumes, which means they’re great places to start reading. If you’re looking to expand out with new publishers, creators, and books, this is a great way to do it.

Take a look at the video below for our unboxing of the October 2017 box (theme: Creatures of the Night).

Included books were:

Of the four books included in the box, I’d honestly only not known about The Scourge. They all look great, and I feel like this is a fantastic bargain at $25. (Cover price for the four books totals $62.96 + tax.)
