‘Men in Black’ Is 20 Years Old (And Now You Can Watch It on Netflix!)

Entertainment Movies
The movie′s ongoing popularity relies on its great mix of humor and science-based fiction.

Based on the Marvel comic of the same name, Men in Black follows the adventures of a police officer (Will Smith) that joins a secret organization charged with the monitoring of alien activity on Earth. Here are five reasons why you might want to re-watch it.

1. It was 1997 and the movie still looks futuristic.

There may be a few things that are outdated, (cell phone communication and the internet and its social media, for instance), but the main station in Men in Black still looks sleek and shiny today.

2. The aliens created for the film are some of the best Rick Baker ever did.

He won that year’s Oscar Award for Best Makeup, and he continued his fantastic work on Men in Black II and Men in Black III.

3. The quotes are fantastic.

Kay: “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.”

4. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith work really well together.

This is why IMDB says it’s one of the highest-grossing action buddy comedies to have hit the U.S. box-office. Both actors interact really well and have their funny moments throughout the film.

5. You can watch it with your kids.

The director, Barry Sonnenfeld, is best known for his work with The Addams Family. Although MiB is rated Rated PG-13 for language and sci-fi violence, if your kids enjoyed the crazy Addams quirky and dangerous humor, they will enjoy this take on alien activity on Earth.

All three movies are available on Netflix now.
