The board game (and board game-related!) news that caught our attention for the week ending October 27, 2017.
- The biggest news this week is that Fantasy Flight Games and Asmodee North America have formed a new company, Fantasy Flight Interactive, which will create expansive video game projects. While their efforts will only be available on Steam to begin with, there are plans to expand to other platforms.
- This week’s photo is the charterstone from Charterstone.
- Anthony Karcz told you about Massive Darkness this week. CMON revealed more details about the upcoming expansions for this cooperative campaign game.
- Asmodee Digital announced they would be bringing Steve Jackson Games’ Munchkin to digital platforms in 2018. So get ready to kick down some virtual doors!
- But wait, Asmodee Digital also announced they would be bringing the awesome two-player, Onitama, to digital in 2018 — really excited about this one.
- Renegade Game Studios announced a couple more titles this week, Topiary, a quick-playing garden-themed game, and Byzanz, a reprint of the merchant-driven card game.
- Renegade also is bringing the 2017 Cardboard Edison winner, Castell, which uses the theme of Catalonia’s annual festival of building human towers.
- The entry deadline for the Serious Board Game Awards is coming up soon, focusing on games that are used for education or training. If you have a game you’d like to have considered, enter soon!
- Fantasy Flight reveals the magic system behind their upcoming adaptable RPG system, Genesys.
- FFG also dropped a ton of news about Star Wars Legion. If you want to know more about AT:STs, T-47 Airspeeders, Imperial Units, Rebel Units, or just take a look at movement tools, click the links!
- Plaid Hat has some expansion decks on the way for Ashes: The Path of Assassins and The Masters of Gravity.
- Foxmind Games is bringing back Manhattan, the 3-D area control game. Look for it no later than the first part of 2018.
- Games out this week include Pandemic Legacy, Season 2 (!!!) from Z-Man and Kaiju Crush from Fireside Games. (Look for a review on Kaiju Crush soon.)
