Con*Quest Journals

Yes, I know… Gen Con 51 is quite a ways off. But that doesn’t mean you can’t start getting prepared for all that game playing. For the last few years, I’ve used my Con*Quest Game Journals to keep track of my schedule, record notes on games I’ve played, and much more. With Gen Con, there’s always so much going on, it’s easy to forget a game time or an interview or a talk. I like having the physical journal in my hands because it’s a constant reminder to take notes, get phone numbers and email addresses, and write down my thoughts on the many games I play during those four days.

Well, the folks at Con*Quest Journal are once again making my life easier — they’re releasing two journals that are specific to gamers and that can be used all year, not just during those four glorious days of gaming. The Board Game Journal is just that — a place to record your comments and details about all the board games you play. The Roleplayer Journal is for you RPG fans, and includes pages to record the various characters you’ll be playing for different games, all in one place. Last year, I brought a folder filled with loose sheets to
Gen Con, and I actually lost a few of my sheets and had to recreate the character from memory.

Both spiral-bound journals are 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″and come standard with 2 pockets, 30 lined pages, and 30 graph pages. The Board Game Journal comes with 40 game review pages and the Roleplayer Journal has 40 pages character/campaign pages.

Each Journal is $14.99 and includes a ribbon page marker, a pen loop and an elastic closure strap. It’s not too large… not too small; perfect for carrying but also lightweight so you can toss it in a backpack.

Everything Con*Quest Journal creates is high quality stuff. My Gen Con Journals from previous years (here and here) are sitting on my gaming shelf, and I reach for them once or twice a year for a good smile. They’re filled with stickers, autographs, business cards and fliers, and I’ve even glued stuff to them like True Dungeon tokens and special cards. The pockets are filled with stuff, too… everything brings back great memories. These journals, as I said, can be used anytime, anywhere… Gen Con, other Con, local gaming store, home, office (?)… you name it.

Right now, Conquest Journal is offering the journals via pre-order. Orders must be placed before November 12, 2017, and shipping of journals will start on December 4th. (A great Christmas gift for gamer friends!) It’s possible that Conquest Journal will have additional copies for sale at various cons, but I wouldn’t count on it being many. If this interests you, point a web browser at https://conquestjournal.com/product-category/gen-con/ and place your order now. The only difficult part of the decision for me is which one! (I’ll suggest to Con*Quest Journal that they do a combo journal next year — RPG and Board Game in one — if sales are good.)

At the time I write this, there are 282 days until Gen Con 2018, but these little journals hopefully will get fans excited and anxious and maybe make the time fly a little faster…
