This week, we welcome Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher to the show. I’ll be honest here: I was first introduced to their comedy while on the JoCo Cruise, where they absolutely killed. They hosted the “hastily assembled entertainment burrito,” which was one of the main-stage shows. Ostensibly a “variety show” of sorts, the highlights of the evening were their stand-up sets—both together and separate. In a word, they’re hilarious.

So it was an absolute thrill to have them both on the show this week. Esposito and Butcher are both seasoned comedians and actors—who happen to be married to each other. They also produce, write, and star in the show Take My Wife together; they co-host regular stand-up nights (that are collected in the podcast Put Your Hands Together); and they’re currently on tour together—traveling around the country in a bus! Whew!

On this episode, we chat about the importance of support when pursuing a creative career, how much of Take My Wife is pure documentary, their current tour, too much of a good thing, and why we need comedy—especially now.

Finally, I need to give a special shoutout to Cameron’s new podcast, Queery, where she sits down with some of the most successful and well-known members of the LGBTQ+ community. Queery “explores individual stories of identity, personality, and the shifting cultural matrix around gender, sexuality, and civil rights.” And it’s freaking phenomenal. Add it to your subscription list right now.

If the Back to Back Tour is coming to your town, I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. Click here for dates and tickets, but here’s where Cameron and Rhea will be over the next few weeks:
