Dav Pilkey’s Supa Epic Tour O’Fun

Dav Pilkey has a special brand of clout in my household. My children—both now voracious readers—cut their literary teeth on his wonderfully irreverent Captain Underpants series.

I can’t help but feel that those early adventures with George and Harold, not to mention the hypnotized Mr. Krupp, helped shape their understanding of the written word as an opportunity to explore the limitless potential of human creativity rather than just some boring, regimented exercise employed only to pass tests or pick out what side dishes you’d like at a restaurant.

This September marks the 20th anniversary of the publication of the very first Captain Underpants book, a series that’s gone on to sell more than 80 million copies in more than 25 different languages, and even got its own film featuring the voices of Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, and Thomas Middleditch. As part of this 20th-anniversary celebration, Pilkey is traveling the country (and our northern neighbor) on his Supa Epic Tour O’Fun.

Tour stops will include a presentation/live drawing session by Dav Pilkey himself as well as the requisite book signing, prizes and fun giveaways, and even photo-ops with Captain Underpants and Dog Man, another crazy crime-fighter cut from a similarly silly cloth. Check out the list below to see if Pilkey and company are coming to your neck of the woods, and, if so, be sure to make a special family trip to celebrate Captain Underpants‘ landmark 20th anniversary, pick up the latest Dog Man adventure, A Tale of Two Kitties, and enjoy all the fun (and maybe a little good-natured foolishness) that only Dav can provide.
