Music Review: ‘Jump for Joy!’ by Caspar Babypants

Music Parenting Reviews

Caspar Babypants has done it again with another fun new album released today–Jump For Joy!

Jump For Joy! is Caspar’s 13th album! As always, there is a mixture of completely new songs as well as plenty of re-imagined classics. My favorite song, mostly because of the backstory, is “Blackberry Pie.” His son, Augie, wrote a song called “Chipmunk Falling From the Sky” when he was six years old. Now, 14 years later, Caspar has updated his son’s song (and made it a bit less gruesome). What an amazing father/son collaboration!

And as always, the album slows down at the end–perfect for making those drowsy babies and kids fall asleep in the car–this time with Caspar’s rendition of “Counting Sheep.”

I recommend Caspar Babypants to new and seasoned parents all the time, and this album is no different. Not only do both of my kids enjoy listening to his music, but my wife and I can listen to it over and over without wanting to stick things in our ears!

And here’s a video from the new album for “Blackberry Pie.”

Caspar Babypants is Chris Ballew of Presidents of the United States fame. As usual, Ballew has written a short background story for each song on the album explaining how the idea came to him. I highly recommend reading them for some great insight into the mind of a genius!

The artwork for the cover, as always, was done by Ballew’s wife, Kate Endle. More of her work can be found in her Etsy store. Her art is lovely and can be enjoyed by the whole family. They make great kid’s room decorations!

Jump For Joy! can be purchased directly from Caspar on his website, on iTunes, or on Amazon. If you haven’t introduced your family to Caspar Babypants yet, do them (and yourself) a favor and check out any of his albums.

Note: I was sent a review copy of the album, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
