Welcome to our video game news for week 30. I spent this weekend in Pittsburgh attending ReplayFX. It was a very fun pinball and arcade game festival that you should really check out if you’re in the area. Of particular interest to me and my son were the retro console games. Rows upon rows of televisions were set up with old school console systems and each had a game already fired up and ready to go. If it wasn’t being used you just sat down, picked up the controller, and started playing. I may have spent the better part of an hour brushing up on my old Dr. Mario skills. I’m rusty, but still pretty good.

Since I got back so late on Sunday we’ll take a quick peek at the highlights and what the GeekDads and GeekMoms were up to on the video game topic this past week.

Video Game News Recap

Xbox’s Latest Video Game News

This Week on Xbox: July 31 – August 6, is a quick way to grab the latest news you may have missed from Xbox last week.  Here are a couple highlights:

Tacoma

Tacoma releases 0n 08/02 for $19.99. This sci-fi adventure is set on a space ship 200,000 miles from Earth. So far from home, things are bound to go wrong and smart people like you will need to help resolve the issues.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

My first impression of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun are “wow, that is really bloody,” and “dang, that design is beautiful.” The game is available by digital preorder now for $49.99 or on release day 08/01/17.

Current Games with Gold are Runbow (07/16 – 08/15) and LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (07/16 – 07/31).

You can check out the games on sale right now on the Deals With Gold page.

Nintendo’s Latest Video Game News

As always, you can view current and upcoming releases on the Nintendo Games Store page. Last week’s big releases were Miitopia and Hey! Pikmin for the 3DS. Check out their trailer videos below.

PlayStation’s Latest Video Game News

This week’s The Drop highlights 9 new releases in the upcoming week. Check out the blog entry for the full list but here one that caught my eye:

Patapon Remastered

Patapon Remastered was first released in 2007 and can now be played with upgraded graphics and with current PS4 controls.

PlayStation Plus includes free games. Currently available are Until Dawn, Tokyo Jungle, Darkstalkers Resurrection, Don’t Die, Mr. Robot!, Element4, and a whole lot of Game of Thrones games. They don’t refresh these very often, do they?

STEAM’s Latest Video Game News

New releases and upcoming releases are available on the Steam Games page.

Current pricing specials can be found on the Specials page. This page is updated frequently so check back often.
