Welcome back to the latest edition of Re-Spawn where we share video game news that caught our eye in the last week and let you know what we’ve played recently.

  • Blizzard’s Latest:
    • The dead rise (or explode depending on the spell) again in Tristram! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing the Necromancer once more in Diablo III. I had forgotten how disgustingly satisfying it is to use Corpse Explosion and how fun it is to run around with a train of undead dogs or skeletons behind you ready to do your bidding at any moment. Check out the guide Blizzard set up to introduce the new (old) character to current players.

    • The new upgrade for StarCraft is now available for pre-purchase. The upgrade is just that, meaning you have to already have the game. It is the same gameplay but with improved graphics and audio. Pre-purchasing will grant three bonuses in the form of Korhal Command Center, Aiur Nexus, and Char Hive. If you’re a StarCraft fan, $14.99 will let your relive this classic in a new way.

  • Xbox’s Latest:
    • Now through 07/10 find deals through the Ultimate Game Sale. A pass through the list looks like most items are 30-50% off, but some titles are as much as 65% off. Gold members are getting even more of a discount on all titles, as high as 75% off.
    • Current Games with Gold are Watch Dogs (06/16 – 07/15), Grow Up (07/01 – 07/31), and Kane & Lynch 2 (07/01 – 07/15).
    • You can check out the games on sale right now on the Deals With Gold page.
  • Nintendo’s Latest:
    • There’s an impressive list of upcoming 3DS games coming out later this year. The “What’s New” article from 06/22 contains the highlights and most games have a link to a page with videos and more images. A few highlights:
      • Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth takes a new adventurer on a quest to reach the top of the Yggdrasil Tree. Coming Fall 2017.
      • RPG Maker Fes is out now and allows players to create their own RPG adventure without needing to code.
      • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack released last week. Called The Master Trials, players will be able to replay the entire adventure in a new Master Mode where all enemies are made much harder and new enemies never before seen will appear. Also included are Trial of the Sword, Hero’s Path, Travel Medallion, Korok Mask, and 8 new armor sets.
    • You can always view current and upcoming releases on the Nintendo Games Store page.
  • Playstation’s Latest:
    • Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy is now available. True to the title, it includes three games in one. Put some “umph in your wump” and crash your way through newly remastered HD versions of Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. IGN loaded a video on July 1st with 9 minutes of actual gameplay that is worth a watch if you’re interested in this title.
    • That’s You has released just in time for the holiday weekend. The first in the new PlayLink series lets you use your smartphone or tablet to link to your PS4 to play a trivia game with your friends. It is free for Playstation Plus members.
    • This week’s The Drop highlights 6 new releases in the upcoming week. Check out the blog entry for the full list but here is a couple that caught my eye:
      • Toby: The Secret Mine releases for PS4. This title has been out for a while on STEAM, but if you’re a console person over PC/Mac, then you’ll be able to check out this dark little gem.
      • Save the Ninja Clan is another indie title coming available on PS4. Life Pit Studios is small development company by Kyle Willett. If you enjoy casual platformers you should give this trailer video by Kyle a look.
    • Playstation Plus includes free games. Currently available are Killing Floor 2, Life is Strange: Complete Season, Neon Chrome, Spy Chameleon, and Abyss Odyssey.
  • STEAM’s Latest:
    • The annual STEAM Summer Sale is still on! It runs until 07/05 and so many games are on sale I can’t possibly list everything. The discount amounts vary from game to game but are well worth a fresh look at your wish list. In last week’s article, we listed some of the games we picked up. Take a look if you’re looking for ideas.
