Are you ready for a behemoth of a Playmobil set? Say hello to the Cruise Ship, which is part of the Family Fun line. Also included in this line is an island juice bar, surfer with beach quad, diving trip (with dolphins!), and island banana boat ride. So if you have a pressing desire to create a tropical vacation with (or without) island cruise, then boy do I have good news for you. And it’s summertime, so why wouldn’t you want to create a plastic island getaway? That’s the real question here.

Ease of Build:
On a scale of 1-5, this one is around a 3 or 4. It’s not that it’s overly difficult to assemble; it’s just really big and a few of the pieces are a little tricky. Like most Playmobil sets, there are a lot of stickers and tons of tiny accessories.
Coolest Features:
- The pull-out bedroom is a definite highlight. My kids love that each has a private bathroom tucked away in the corner.
- The captain’s bridge, even though there’s no door, and my daughter is concerned about the safety of that situation.
- The swimming pool and slide from the upper deck.
- The life raft that lowers down from the back of the ship.
- This set has some cool accessories, including rolling luggage, a pool chair, and cute little telephones.
Playability:
If you have the space (did I mention that it’s big?), this is a fun set to add to your collection. If you’ve ever been on a cruise, your kids will likely find it fun to re-create that trip, even if the cabins on this cruise ship are roughly the equivalent of a lounge. It’s not the most interactive set Playmobil makes, but that’s really only noticeable because of its size. With a playset this big, we’ve come to expect a lot more “oohs” and “aahs” over cool, unique features.
Kid Verdict:
Two big thumbs up. They love to pretend the ship is the JoCo Cruise, and they reenact a lot of the adventures they had while on that trip. I’m going to be honest, though, and say that this one might be toward the top of the list of toys to go once they stop playing with it. It’s huge, and we unfortunately don’t have unlimited space.
