The First Trailer for Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ Actually Looks REALLY Good

I was not excited about Marvel’s Inhumans. I am a Black Bolt fangirl. I am a Medusa fangirl. I am a Netflix/Marvel fangirl (well, 75% of one, anyway. Iron Fist can catch fire or explode or fall into that dumpster where Claire found Matt or whatever). I have not, however, been as much of an ABC/Marvel fangirl: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. lost me mid-season one and, though I’ve heard it improved markedly, I’ve had neither the time nor the inclination to catch up. Agent Carter lost me mid-season two for reasons, after which the network gave up on Peggy entirely and failed to renew.

You can see why I’d be hesitant to get my hopes up about ABC’s ability to adapt the far more complex, far more brutal world of the Inhumans to television.

I appear to have been mistaken in my doubt.

The whole trailer is quite promising (though obviously neither as blood soaked nor as overtly violent as the best Inhumans comic arcs have been) but the moment that really sold me? When Black Bolt (Anson Strout) gets hit across the back and gasps involuntarily. Well, and the ones with Lockjaw.

Because Lockjaw.

I still think they need to fix Medusa’s hair and I don’t know what’s going on with her dress but it’s weird. Other than those two minor quibbles? I’m all in.

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere in theaters in IMAX on September 1, 2017; the first two episodes will run for two weeks. The tv premiere will be September 29th, 2017 from 2000-2200 with those same two episodes airing back to back.

  1. I agree, it looks very well done. My problem is that they have under powered Black Bolt. A hit from a police baton would neither cause him injury nor cause him to lose control of his voice. This is a being who can go toe-to-toe with the Hulk.

That aside, I’m excited about it!

  2. So… the women don’t speak on this show? Because that’s how it looks from the trailer.

  3. It looks awful. The Costumes look cheap. They characters look under powered, and generally like this production has a low budget. Doesn’t look like it will do the comic any justice..
