Smartick: An Irresistible Online Math Program for Kids

*Disclosure: I received access to Smartick in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review and, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. As you will see, we absolutely adore this program.

Just before the holidays, I was approached by a company called Smartick. They asked if I would be interested in reviewing their new math program. I’ll be honest here and tell you that the timing wasn’t great. We were in the midst of holiday madness and our homeschool routine was feeling the effects of too much fun and sugar. Not to mention the fact that I was swamped with work deadlines.

But when I researched the program, I discovered that Smartick incorporates artificial intelligence to meet students’ unique needs and uses multiple gamification elements to make learning fun.

Then I read that Smartick is supported by both the European Union and MIT.

As a homeschool mom who loves to incorporate games and play, I was intrigued and so we decided to give it a go. I am so thankful we decided to try it out!

Smartick: An Irresistible Online Math Program for Kids

That was over six months ago now, and I can honestly tell you that this program has revolutionized our homeschool routine. I kid you not: my kids wake up every morning and ask to play Smartick. They have asked to use the program on holidays, birthdays, and vacations.

Lately, they have elected to “play” Smartick before heading to the pool as you can see here:

The program is wildly addicting and educational. It is perfect for homeschoolers, after-schoolers, or parents looking to prevent the dreaded summer slide.

I’m sharing this resource today because Smartick is offering a huge summer discount, so be sure to keep reading!

Smartick is an online math program for children ages 4-14.

New to the U.S., Smartick is supported by the European Union and is used in 52 countries worldwide. You can access Smartick from your desktop, phone, or tablet.

The Smartick Method utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to meet your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses, and reports that 94% of their students see an improvement in grades.

The program is individualized. It doesn’t matter if your child is working years above grade level, if your child is below grade level, or if your child is asynchronous. This program follows your child. In many cases, this allows your child to go beyond the classroom.

With just 15 minutes a day, this summer program is easy to implement.

The Smartick Method uses a 15-minutes a day approach. These daily lessons work on mental calculation, algebra skills, logic, and more. In order to experience the benefits of the program, it is recommended that children complete daily 10-15 minute sessions at least five days per week.

These short daily sessions:

  • create routine
  • help to avoid boredom and burnout
  • maximize attention and concentration
  • promote positive study habits

Diplomas and Ticks keep students coming back for more.

As students use the program, they earn “ticks” for a variety of reasons. These ticks are the currency of the program, and kids can’t resist them!

A child earns ticks by:

  • completing problems
  • electing to correct all errors at the end of the session
  • error-free sessions
  • consecutive/daily use of the program
  • 10 extra ticks on birthdays

In addition to earning ticks, students earn diplomas for mastering skills.

Students find the virtual world is irresistible.

Once a child’s daily 15-minute session is complete, the child is free to explore the virtual world. The virtual world includes the child’s house, a treehouse, a store, a school, the well of ideas, and more.

Children can customize their Smartick avatars and purchase objects, pets, and more from the store. They can even send gifts to their Smartick friends.

The treehouse is a space to check in on Smartick friends. Children can see their friends’ recent diplomas and achievements. The well of ideas is a place for children to leave feedback. They can make suggestions and ask questions… and they often get a reply!

In the school, students can watch tutorials… and these tutorials aren’t grade-based they are interest based. (My 5-year-old math addict has been learning about irreducible fractions!)

Game-based learning is perfect for summer.

Throughout the virtual world, students have access to a variety of games. These gamification elements keep children engaged and help to improve concentration levels.

All of the Smartick games are scientifically designed to reinforce the following cognitive skills:

  • perception
  • attention
  • memory
  • logical reasoning

New areas of the virtual world are unlocked as children progress through the lessons. My children are delighted when they log on to discover a new element of the virtual world, game, or tutorial.

Parent communication is fantastic.

Parents receive immediate emails, as soon as their children complete the daily session. These emails contain information about content covered, speed, and performance.

In addition, parents have access to a parent dashboard which includes a summary of the child’s results including study plans, questions and units the child answered, response speed, and more.

Although it is an online program, Smartick has a team of educators behind the scenes to answer questions via phone, email, or chat should parents have any questions or concerns.

Smartick is offering a summer discount.

Smartick continues to be fresh and exciting for my kids, even after six months of daily play. I love how much my children love this program, and I’ve seen wonderful growth in math skills and confidence.

You can head over to Smartick and sign up for a 15-day free trial to see for yourself. There are several pricing plans available, depending on your choice of payment plan and the number of children. All current pricing plans are available on the website.

From now through July 15, 2017, families who subscribe to Smartick will receive a discounted tuition.
