Nintendo has long shied away from the more traditional E3 press events favored by Sony and Microsoft, instead opting for a shorter, more controlled product reveal followed by lots (and lots) of streamed gameplay sessions hosted by the Treehouse team. This year was no different, and, in true Nintendo style, what the initial “Nintendo Spotlight E3 2017” presentation lacked in runtime, it more than made up for in pleasant surprises and… well, just plain weirdness.
10. Reggie’s Slam Poetry
Reggie Fils-Aimé, current president and COO, is the larger-than-life mouthpiece for Nintendo of America. And, while his body may not’ve been ready this year, he did favor us with some dope free verse about, y’know, games and stuff.
9. Kirby and Yoshi Coming to the Switch
First-party darlings Kirby and Yoshi are both headed to the Nintendo Switch in 2018. While the games don’t even have titles at this point, I can assure you that both will very likely be fun. Fun and adorable.
8. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Arrives in Time for the Holidays
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 made an appearance in the form of a beefy trailer promising oversized swords, inspiring airships, and a Holiday 2017 release date.
7. Rocket League Lands on Switch
Also arriving on the Nintendo Switch in time for the holidays is multiplayer sensation Rocket League. While this bad boy will offer exclusive cars and customizations just for Switch users, it’ll boast cross-network play, so you’ll even be able to compete against your friends on other platforms.
6. Fire Emblem Warriors Looks Fierce
I love me some Fire Emblem, and a fresh new trailer for Fire Emblems Warriors looks to bring all my favorite characters into this realm of insane hack-n-slash battlefields. Also, dragons seem to have upset the world’s delicate balance again. Like they do.
5. Breath of the Wild Gets DLC and More amiibo
If there are two things The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has in abundance, they’re content and compatible amiibo figures. But you can look for even more. Soon! DLC Pack 1, AKA Master Trials, includes Trial of the Sword, Master Mode, Hero’s Path, Travel Medallion, Korok Mask, and eight new armors, and it will be available June 30, 2017. Pack 2, The Champions’ Ballad, is set for a holiday release, with Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa amiibo “coming soon.”

4. Mario + Rabbids Go to War
Finally, a Rabbids game we can get excited about! Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, arriving August 29, made a brief but not insignificant appearance. Boasting turn-based combat and an arsenal of wacky weapons, this is one I can’t wait to check out.

3. Metroid Prime 4 Confirmed
While all we really got was some music and a title crawl, Metroid Prime 4 is a thing! A thing in development! For the Switch!
(And don’t even get me started on Metroid: Samus Returns, arriving on the 3DS September 15!)

2. Proper Pokémon RPG for Switch in Development
After last week’s less-than-stellar Pokémon Direct, no one was more surprised than me to hear Tsunekazu Ishihara say that “Game Freak has begun developing a core RPG Pokémon title on Nintendo Switch.” While we are likely more than a year out from its eventual release, it’s still good news for Pokémon fans.
1. Super Mario Odyssey Dated
Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo’s next 3D Mario adventure, will wall-jump into your Nintendo Switch on October 27, 2017. This trailer has everything: a dinosaur, formalwear, and even Cheep Cheep Mario!
