Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

  • Did you have a good tabletop day? Play a lot of games? Or are you just ready to get to this week’s game news …
  • Tickets for PAX Unplugged went on sale this week. If you aren’t headed to Dallas that weekend, snag a badge before they disappear!
  • CMON has opened preorders for an expansion to the hit Potion Explosion. The Fifth Ingredient, which introduces Ghost Ectoplasm (used as a wild card); Professor Tiles, which will offer new paths to victory; and four new potions. The expansion is scheduled to be released in late June.
  • If temporal faults are your thing, there’s another expansion on the horizon. T.I.M.E Stories will see Lumen Fidei in June and Asmodee has released an in-depth preview of your journey to medieval Spain.
  • Dead of Winter exploded on the scenes a couple of years ago and its bleak and desperate outlook at the post-apocalypse presented a lot of well-thought-out fun. It hasn’t improved much in the months that followed. After the Long Night, Plaid Hat announced another expansion this week. Warring Colonies will pit two colonies against each other, competing for the same location, resources, and power.
  • Passport Games has slashed prices on five of their older catalog games. Kingsport Festival, Titan Race, Samurai Spirit, [redacted], and Mythe all see deep price cuts. Nice!
  • Hasbro has decided to get into the subscription box service. For $50, you’ll get three games in either the party- or family-themed categories.
  • WizKids announced the upcoming release of D&D Icons of the Realms Miniatures Epic Level Starter set, featuring seven full-color (well, most of them) miniatures.
  • Speaking of miniatures, when the GeekDads get together to talk shop, we end up turning our attention to miniatures painting pretty often. And the name that comes up time and time again is Sorastro. As Anthony Karcz put it, “Sorastro is a freaking wizard.” If you haven’t seen it, check out his latest video, painting Imperial Assault‘s Jabba the Hutt.

Finally, here’s what some of the GeekDad Crew has been playing this week:
