Things took an unexpectedly deep turn this week as the boys reflected on what it means to be gifted. Don’t worry, though, there’s still plenty of buffoonery! We promised an episode about the Anne Hathaway kaiju film Collossal, but it turns out it wasn’t playing anywhere in Phoenix. Bummer! We did, however, find a few theaters showing the surprisingly lovable film Gifted, and we offer up our thoughts.
This week Chris got funkalicious and tuned into the Netflix original The Get Down. Part 2 of the series dropped recently and, apparently, his kids are way cooler than he is because it showed up as a recommendation in their queue and not his. Who knew! Some day soon maybe his daughter Chloe will explain hip-hop to him.
Matt took his turn with the documentary this week and tuned into HBO for the absolutely mesmerizing Tickled. He was apparently pretty amazed by the story; he immediately watched the follow-up documentary the same night. As much as Chris tried to pry the details out of him, he wouldn’t cave in. I guess we’re all going to have to tune in to find out just what’s going on in the world of competitive endurance tickling!
Finally, we get to the movie of the week, Gifted. We can’t spill the beans about exactly how we felt watching this movie, but, suffice it to say, the boys were originally afraid they wouldn’t have much to talk about because they both felt the same way about Chis Evans’ latest film. Surprisingly, however, things got personal, and the conversation turned inward as they reflected on the meaning of giftedness, talent, and the purpose of life itself. You don’t want to miss this one!
You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, iHeartRadio, and Stitcher; you can follow the RSS feed; you can download directly; or you can listen right here!
Tune in next week, if you dare, as we take on the surefire disaster hit that is the Fate of the Furious.
