Re-Roll: This Week’s Tabletop Game News

Re-Roll Tabletop Games

Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

  • IDW will be releasing a series of games based on the original Planet of the Apes films. The first game, Planet of the Apes, will be a cooperative affair and will be released in October. It will also come with four miniatures, which will only be available in the first printing. After that, it’s cardboard standees for everyone.
  • USAopoly announced Super Mario Level Up! Board Game. In this one, characters will gather coins en route to a castle in the Mushroom Kingdom (sounds familiar!). There will be power up cards and a 3D board. Coming soon!
  • Games heading to shelves next week include 75 Gnom’ Street from CMON, a bluffing and deduction game that challenges you to find your opponent’s sweet, sweet gold. From Smirk and Dagger comes Biotix, a press your luck worker placement game with meeple microbes. Renegade has Shiba Inu House, a pattern recognition/tile laying game. (Look for a review very soon!) It’s made its way to its Kickstarter backers and now In the Name of Odin will be on store shelves. The game, from NSKN, asks players “Who will be the next Jarl?”
  • Not done yet! Next week has two more big releases. Ethnos is from CMON and designer Paolo Mori (Libertalia, Dogs of War, Vasco da Gama) and is a fantasy-themed card game. You must battle and conquer the six kingdoms over three ages. Giants, dwarves, elves, and centaurs are all yours to command and lead.
  • You’ve got a little more space on your table still? Well, Fantasy Flight has released the Runewars Miniatures Game. It has a unique maneuver tool, which gives you a host of options, as well as a whole mess of minis, dice, terrain, and hours of fun.

Finally, here’s what some of the GeekDad Crew has been playing this week:

  • Mike LeSauvage: Dominion (most expansions), Edge of the Empire
