American Gods, the television series adapted from Neil Gaiman’s masterwork novel of the same name, makes it’s debut on Sunday, April 30 on Starz. The series centers around released convict Shadow Moon, who finds himself caught up in a war between the old gods who have been brought by immigrants to this country versus the new gods of media and technology.

For my money, showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green nailed the most important piece of casting when they locked down Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday. The rest I’m either indifferent about or not yet sold on… Mr. Nancy should be older and more diminutive than Orlando Jordan (somebody like Garrett Morris), Low Key should have been played by Jackie Earle Haley, Dana Delany should have been Easter… but I’m more than willing to give the series the benefit of the doubt and eight weeks with which to win me over.

Not that I’m a hard sell to begin with, being a huge fan of the novel.
