Mid-Atlantic ‘Doctor Who’ Fans: Come to Baltimore This Weekend!

Events Geek Culture Places

There’s an excellent Doctor Who convention this weekend in Baltimore, Maryland, and every fan who can get there should. The con, known as (Re)Generation Who, is in its third year and this time has as much for the “New Who” fans as for the fans of Doctors 1 to 8.

New Who guests will include: Neve McIntosh, who plays Madame Vastra (aka the lizard woman from the dawn of time); Catrin Stewart, who plays Vastra’s wife Jenny; and Ingrid Oliver, who plays Osgood. Old-school Who guests will include: Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy; Terry Molloy, who played Davros in the ’80s; Peter Purves, who played Steven Taylor, a companion of the First Doctor; Katy Manning, who played Jo Grant, a companion of the Third Doctor; and Richard Franklin, who played the recurring character Captain Mike Yates.

(Re)Generation Who will be held at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel this weekend. Programming begins (tomorrow) Friday, March 24, at noon, and ends Sunday, March 26, at 5:00. There are some excellent-sounding panels on the schedule, and events like “Doctor Who Magic,” a dance party, trivia contests, cosplay shows, and of course photo opps and autograph sessions with the guests.

Tickets at the door will cost: $45 for Friday only; $60 for Saturday only; $50 for Sunday only; or $90 for the whole con. Tickets for children 12 and under will be just $20. The folks who run the con are awesome people, and they always make sure there are activities to interest the kids; this year, they’re even having a “Tiny-Wimey Children’s Cosplay Contest.”

I’ll be there with my family for most of the con, so please say “Hi” if you see me: I always enjoy meeting GeekDad readers.
