Re-Roll: This Week’s Tabletop Game News

Re-Roll Tabletop Games

Re-Roll

Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

    • You may have heard that Rising Sun started on Kickstarter this week. Some people backed it. Now we’re all left waiting until next spring. CMON also announced retail pledging for the game.
    • Asmodee announced an expansion for Conan. Nordheim brings maps and a couple dozen gorgeous minis, as Conan ventures into the Great White North. The four-scenario expansion will make its way to stores in Q2 of this year.
    • Turn One, a gaming accessory supplier, has announced its first game, which will be arriving in May. Space Invaders Dice will have you rolling and shooting at alien invaders.
    • And before we get too far from retro-gaming-turned-cardboard, IDW Games announced a partnership with Atari. Look for tabletop versions of Centipede, Asteroids, and Missile Command from Dead of Winter co-designer Jon Gilmour.
    • The GAMA Trade Show will take place next week, so if you’re wondering where the owner of your FLGS is on Monday, the answer is probably “Las Vegas.”
    • Stronghold Games announced a price and a street date for Uwe Rosenberg’s Cottage Garden: June 2017 and (gulp) $59.95.
    • Element from Rather Dashing Games is in stores this coming week. Curious? Read our review.
    • BoardGameGeek revealed their Golden Geek awards this week. It’s a shame that Scythe didn’t do any better, but I’m sure one day people will notice that game.
    • Distant, on the horizon, Captain Sonar is going to get a “super mega expansion” that’s being called Upgrade 1.
    • Chronicle Books, who do some great, geeky things, has a game coming out for 4-10 players called Donner Dinner Party. Sounds delectably silly.
    • Ultra Pro’s Jolly Roger has a micro game hitting store counters this week. 13 Minutes is a micro game about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Retail price is only 10 bucks.
    • Eric Lang and Bruno Faidutti, who recently teamed up for HMS Dolores, have another co-designed game on the way. Secrets, from Repos Productions, will be a party/bluffing game that pits dirty Hippies against the Man.
    • Talk about pretty! Blue Orange Games has a strategy game called Photosynthesis that’s about as gorgeous as they come–3D trees and the appearance of a forest-builder. Check out this French language video for an in-depth look.
    • Renegade Games announced a new two-player trick taking game. Fox in the Forest is by Joshua Buergel and has some neat fairy tale-related abilities.
