In this episode, Chris lets his geek flag fly talking about the documentary CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap. This documentary takes a hard look at the lack of women and people of color in the technology industry. Paying special attention to computer science, it describes in shocking detail the decline in participation that has taken place in the field since its early days when programming was largely considered a menial job suited only for women. The film features the voices of many women in the tech industry including Kimberly Bryant, Debbie Sterling, Mariah Klawe, and Danielle Feinberg and is a must watch for anyone interested in the future of technology. Check out the website {she’s}coding for ideas on how to get involved in promoting women in computer science and other tech fields.

Matt finally sees The Perks of Being a Wallflower and gives us a peek into his softer side. Let’s agree it’s a given that he liked the film, but I don’t think you’re ready for how intense his feelings about it were! Could this be the stalwart host’s first on-air admission of actual sobbing? For those who don’t know, the film is based on a 1999 New York Times bestselling coming-of-age story of the same name and was released to critical (and financial) success in 2005. Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller, it is considered by many (Matt included?) to be a defining example of the coming-of-age genre.

Our feature this week was the long-anticipated John Wick: Chapter 2. We have basically been waiting for this film to be released since we walked out of the theater at the end of the first one! If you’re in the same boat I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, especially if you’ve been feasting on a steady diet of Oscar-contenders. Tune in as we get our Gun-Fu on and dissect this action-packed sequel.

Bonus Content: Here is the strange Jamie Dornan/Eminem crossover I was talking about in the show!

Let me add a word of warning to parents; every so often one of us has a potty mouth (it’s usually me) and says something you might not want little ones to hear. This might be a show just for grown-up ears–your mileage may vary.

You can listen on iTunes, Google Play, iHeartRadio, and Stitcher; you can follow the RSS feed; you can download directly; or you can listen right here!

Make sure you tune in next week for A Very Special Oscar Episode! We’ll have a few guests on the show and will be talking about all nine nominees for Best Picture and sharing our thoughts and predictions for the big night. You don’t want to miss this one!
