JoCo Cruise: Two Exciting Announcements

Events Featured Geek Culture Travel

We’ve covered the JoCo Cruise a few times in the past. And I’ve chatted with the JoCo Cruise Founding Fathers Jonathan Coulton and Paul & Storm over on the GBBP. (Give it a listen!)

But for those too lazy to click, next week marks the 7th sailing of JoCo Cruise: an annual, weeklong cruise that began as a Jonathan Coulton fan cruise back in 2011. The experience is equal parts nerdy convention and music festival – which has developed a cult following – and is known for its daily concerts, 24-hour game room, welcoming “Sea Monkey” community, more geeky onboard events than you could possible attend – and a wide variety of high profile, awesome guests on board.

We’re thrilled to announce that this year, GeekDad will be aboard! That’s right, we’re sailing the nerdiest cruise that ever sailed and braving the high seas to report back to you, our loyal readers, about what really goes down on this (quickly becoming legendary) cruise. This year’s cruise sails out of San Diego from March 4-11 and will make three ports of call along Baja California (Cabo San Lucas, Loreto, and Bahia Magdalena). Follow GeekDad on Twitter and Facebook next week for as many trip reports, photos, videos, and livestreams as the ship’s Wi-Fi can support. (You can also follow me at @theroarbots on Twitter for even more!)

Couldn’t make it this year? Never fear! Bookings for the 2018 cruise are now open! Click here to get in on the action now, before your preferred cabin is sold out. In 2018, the cruise will once again take over the whole ship (Holland America’s ms Oosterdam, which is the sister ship to the Westerdam: this year’s ship.) It will again depart out of San Diego, and the dates are Sunday, February 18 through Sunday, February 25. Ports of call and guests are still TBA, but if history is any judge, it’ll be all-around awesome.

So, : Check out GeekDad social channels next week for dispatches from nerdy paradise, and : check your calendar for February 2018 and don’t delay on your reservation if JoCo Cruise ’18 is in the cards for you!
