Re-Roll: This Week’s Tabletop Game News

Re-Roll Tabletop Games

Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

  • Santorini, which a lot of GeekDads have been enjoying, hits store shelves this week. The Kickstarted abstract strategy game is a lot of fun, plays quickly and has lots of replayability in it.
  • Scott Almes’ dice-rolling-and-wagering game, House of Borgia is also in stores soon. There’s an element of bluffing too, so it’s being called Coup meets Liar’s Dice.
  • Alien Frontiers gets a big box set from Game Salute. It comes with two major expansions, four faction packs and seven expansion packs. It’s making its way to stores now.
  • If you missed the highly anticipated legacy-style game, Gloomhaven, don’t look so, erm, bleak. Gloomhaven will be coming to retail stores in late February! It will have a sticker price of $120. You may resume gloominess now.
  • WizKids announced this week that they will be bringing back the once-very-popular Star Trek: Tactics. The Heroclix-based game will reappear in September.
  • If you like pizza and turtles, another WizKids announcement might have you saying “Cowabunga!” There’s a TMNT Dice Masters: Heroes in a Half Shell game on its way soon. Check out a preview here.
  • Fantasy Flight offered up a look into the upcoming Android: Netrunner expansion, Terminal Directive. The expansion is showing as a March release at this time.
  • Also from FFG this week comes the announcement of three new figure packs for Imperial Assault: BT-1 and 0-0-0 Villain Pack, Jawa Scavenger Villain Pack, and Hera Syndulla and C1-10P Ally Pack. Droids and scavengers!

Finally, here’s what some of the GeekDad Crew has been playing this week:

  • Anthony Karcz: Pathfinder iOS, Monopoly: Pokemon Johto Edition

    1. Hi, Sean! I’ll be working on a full review of it—I’d been waiting on the prototype and it just arrived.
