Welcome to the Playmobil Playroom, where we take a monthly peek inside those impressive blue boxes and see what treasures await within. Sometimes we’ll have step-by-step photos walking you through assembly, maybe we’ll discuss and review a particular set or theme, or maybe we’ll have an unboxing video.
This month, we’re hitting the open road in a car I’ll never afford: the Porsche 911 Targa 4S. Since the real thing apparently retails for more than $122,000 (base model), I’ll happily settle for this Playmobil version. Because that’s the kind of kid-at-heart I am.
Released this month, the Playmobil Porsche 911 is almost as pretty as the real thing; it’s just a bit less powerful under the hood and doesn’t move as fast. (It doesn’t move at all.)

Ease of Build:
On a scale of 1-5, this one probably comes in at about a 2. It’s pretty easy to assemble, and the car basically comes out of the box as one piece. Most of the pieces that actually require assembly are the odds and ends for the car dealership showroom (and much of that is with stickers).
Coolest Features:
- Duh, it’s the car! Though it’s essentially one molded piece, the roof of the car can be removed both to put figures inside and make it into a convertible.
- Push a button on the bottom of the car, and the headlights and brake lights turn on. Press it a second time, and the dashboard inside the car glows a nice blue.
- It’s a car perfectly scaled for Playmobil figures! (Two adult-sized figures can fit in the front seats.)
Playability:
If your kids are into cars, this is perfect. My son is obsessed with anything that has four wheels, so this was a huge hit. It’s a great size and even carries some heft (because of the battery pack inside), so it feels fairly substantial in your hands. It doesn’t feel like it’s made with cheap plastic and will fall apart. It’s a pretty solid car.
The other pieces in the set – those that comprise the dealership showroom – are fun, but I doubt they’ll see much play. I mean, if your kid wants to reenact the thrilling process of test driving an expensive car, haggling over a price, and then signing mountains of paperwork, then I guess there’s replayability here. For everyone else, the car is the real reason to pick up this set.

Two thumbs up!
