Today, we’re embracing our inner 4-year-olds and chatting with Rob LaDuca and Mark Seidenberg. Rob and Mark are the executive producers of the brand-new Disney Junior show Mickey and the Roadster Racers, which is the replacement for the long-running Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (on which they also worked as EPs).
I previously wrote about the new show here, which premieres on January 15 at 9:00 am (EST) on both Disney Junior and the Disney Channel. If you have little ones who are fans of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, there’s a lot to love here. Same classic characters but with transforming racecars and an all-star recurring guest cast.
Beyond these two shows, both Rob and Mark were EPs on Jake and the Neverland Pirates and have long histories with Disney animation in general. Their careers stretch all the way back to the heyday of the Disney Afternoon. They worked as writers and storyboarders on everything from DuckTales to Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Goof Troop.
On this episode, we talk about their histories with these properties, how they keep finding new stories to tell with the classic characters, and the impressive voice cast on Roadster Racers. We also pick Rob’s brain about his experiences on Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings and on both The Wrath of Khan and Return of the Jedi. Oh yeah.
