Re-Roll: This Week’s Tabletop Game News

Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

  • Richard Garfield’s old favorite Robo Rally is getting a small overhaul and a rerelease by Hasbro. Look for it in stores now.
  • WizKids’ Dungeons & Dragons game, Assault of the Giants has a release date. Sort of. Look for it in February (at least there are only 28 days, narrows it down a bit!) It’ll be available in 2 versions, monochromatic or prepainted minis. One will set you back $80, the other $130. So start saving!
  • Also coming in February are Coal Baron: The Great Card Game (based on the board game) from Stronghold Games and Honshu, a map building game from Renegade.
  • Renegade also announced another game set in the FUSE universe (read FUSE review here). In Flatline, those crew members who survived the first game have to deal with injuries their comrades have been dealt. It’s another cooperative dice game and sure to be a lot of fun because Renegade is riding a huge wave of great games!
  • Scott Almes of Tiny Epic _____ fame has a new game coming out in January. House of Borgia has Cardinals in the Vatican trying to decide on the next Pope. The previously Kickstarted game is a hidden role/dice rolling affair and full of nasty back stabbing.
  • That’s it. The slow news week was undoubtedly affected by Christmas. The rotund, red chimney visitor brought me a copy of Eric Lang’s The Others, but that’s it. Maybe he knew I still had too many games to review on my plate? Did you get any new games this holiday? Let us know below!
