Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:

  • The Asmodee acquisition of Z-Man has been long and quiet, but it seems to be complete now. In this week’s news, Z-Man states they are part of the Asmodee family, while outlining their reprints and new releases, including First Class, a train game releasing in December, and Carcassonnne Amazonas, coming out next week.
  • Dungeons & Dragons, that awful game that will warp your fragile little mind, has earned a place in the National Toy Hall of Fame.
  • CMON continues a rapid expansion of their game line, with English versions of Lorenzo il Magnifico (which has magnificent box art) and an updated version of Council of 4 (including new minis) both on their way in Q2 2017. Along with a just-released English language Unusual Suspects, the cooperative deduction game, CMON keeps on rolling.
  • A new and improved Blood Bowl (which Robin Brooks has been playing, see below) will be releasing November 24 from Games Workshop.
  • Asmodee announced a handful of December releases, including Deus Egypt, the first expansion for Deus; two versions of Aye, Dark Overlord! (played by Ryan Hiller this week, see below), a re-release and a new version; and Legendary Inventors, a race to assemble the best team of real-world inventors.
  • Gale Force Nine announced a January release of the first Tyrants of the Underdark expansion called Aberrations & Undead.
  • Steve Jackson Games will be releasing an Ogre expansion, Reinforcements, that will be available in March of 2017.
  • Pizza’s great any time of day, especially for breakfast, and Bezier Games wants to make it great for game night. New York Slice will be hitting shelves in January and has a unique division and set collection mechanic with some of the most delectable looking components in a while.
  • The RPG HC SVNT Dracones has launched its own miniature creation site, with a big selection of options for heads, weapons, and more. They are available now.
  • Mantic Games has a new Walking Dead miniatures game coming out this month.
  • Calliope Games began shipping games in their most interesting experiment, the Titan Series, featuring games from some of the biggest names in game design. Up first were titles from Paul Peterson, Richard Garfield, and Zach & Jordan Weisman. More titles are due in 2017.
  • BGG.Con will take place this coming weekend in Dallas. If you’re going, have a great time and be sure to tell us what you enjoyed most!
  • A big group of GeekDads and GeekMoms will be playing their next round of Star Wars Edge of the Empire tonight at 9 PM ET. They’ll be live-streaming it too, so tune in to watch!
