Just a quick reminder that Samuel Sattin’s comic book series, Legend, has now had its first volume released as a graphic novel collection. You can read my previous review of Legend here, but just know that it has to be one of the most interesting storylines I’ve read in years.

From the press release:

This November, acclaimed novelist Samuel Sattin (THE SILENT END) and award-winning artist Chris Koehler make their graphic novel debut with LEGEND: DEFEND THE GROUNDS, a post-apocalyptic tale where cat technology rules, dogs partner with hawks, and humans may be the most beastly creatures of all. Originally published to widespread acclaim in comic book form by Z2 Comics and now available for the first time as a graphic novel, LEGEND tackles some of the important issues facing us today — religious conflict, opposing political systems, and the environment, all told through the eyes of our own best friends.

As LEGEND begins, the leader of the Dog Tribe has been murdered by a mysterious creature known as the Endark. An English Pointer named Legend reluctantly rises to lead his tribe, vowing to kill the monster once and for all. Novelist Samuel Sattin and Chris Koehler, whose illustrations have appeared in The Atlantic and Wired, have created a reading experience that recalls beloved stories while creating something entirely new.  Since dogs actually see the world differently than we do, Koehler employs a chromatic, saturated glow for the canine world. LEGEND combines unforgettable characters, exceptional world building, and unrelenting tension to deliver an unforgettable read.

The graphic novel is 168 pages and is available now. And if you enjoy Legend, please know that I’ve reviewed a few of Sattin’s novels that you might also be interested in checking out — The Silent End and League of Somebodies.
