Fitbit has had a winning formula for a few years now. Solid app, well-designed software, and having the name recognition most companies would kill for. I was in love with the Charge HR, but I really wished I could get a bigger screen with more information.

Before I even talk about the watch, I need to note my desire to hug whoever thought of adding “grips” to the charging cable. This secures your Fitbit when charging, making sure you have a tight connection. It’s also a good way to keep an eye on your non-standard charger. I’m also happy that the bands are swappable.
The bigger screen lets me see more data, and that’s good. I had some issues configuring the notification function, but, otherwise, the app/hardware combo worked perfectly. I didn’t have a chance to test the “relax” setting (ironically, something I really should), but overall it was perfect. Fitbit has a new app version coming out soon that changes the dashboard, so I don’t want to get too into details there, but it’s all straightforward and integrates will with Apple Health and Android Health, plus some other apps. Battery life is rated for five days, and I got six one time.
At this point, I generally point out who the item I am reviewing is best for. Except it’s far more effective to note who the Charge 2 is not for. First off, if you already have a Charge HR or other Fitbit with a heart tracker, then you’re really okay. If you really need GPS or waterproofing, then you should pass too.
But if you’re looking for a fitness tracker that keeps impeccable metrics, has a slick app, and costs $150 (less when on sale, and those happen a lot – like right now on Amazon
