I tried to come up with a clever name for this post. I really did. But when I’m handed something like “Grumpopotamus (and the Crankosaurus Rex)” on a silver platter, it’s too good to refuse. And that’s precisely what happened. That amazing assemblage of words is the newest song from Oklahoma City-based musicians Sugar Free Allstars.

Listen, I’m going to be completely honest. We’ve never been huge fans of “kids music” in my house, but we’d never refuse a catchy dance tune. And believe me, I’m all about sharing smiles these days. The real world is frightening enough that I’m more than happy to drop the video for this song right here just for y’all. To make your day a little brighter.

Besides the obvious, what’s scarier than a cranky kid? Two cranky kids. This song was inspired by the singer’s own family: “I have two young boys and when they are both cranky at the same time, my wife and I literally want to run and hide…and I’m sure that’s the way they feel about us on the mornings we discover that we are out of coffee.”

Any video that features one of those awkward, goofy T-rex costumes that have been popping up at cons recently? I’m sold. And when the song is  fun, funk-infused jam about cranky kids? It’s like they’re singing just to me!

So sit back, click play, tune out the looming apocalypse outside, and enjoy some Grumpopotamus shenanigans.
