The Newest ‘Transformers Rescue Bots’ Giveaway

Featured Geek Culture Television Toys

Transformers is easily my biggest fandom, but my son’s has been Star Wars from day one. He knows some of the Transformers and has a handful of toys, but he’s not been too interested–until now. We just started watching Transformers Rescue Bots. As you may imagine, having an age-appropriate cartoon goes a long way to engaging a child with a fandom.

tfrescuebots-hqThe first new item in the Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bot line is the huge Griffin Rock Firehouse Headquarters playset. When I say huge, I mean this playset is almost two feet tall. In addition to the firehouse itself, this playset includes a Cody Burns figure, fire gear for him to wear, a rescue motorcycle, and several projectiles. Unlike the Star Wars Galactic Heroes line, these projectiles aren’t weapons (though they can be used that way). Instead, they are water cannons for putting out fires. There are a ton of cool features here, like the two water cannons, an extending rotating lookout tower, an extendable helipad, a “sliding” fire pole for Cody or similar figure, a vehicle launcher, and a pullout underground tunnel (just like in the show).

I love that the Playskool Heroes Rescue BotsAvengers, and Star Wars are all the same scale because it means I get to watch my son create his own shared universe while playing with all of them together. I’d say the biggest downside to this playset is that it doesn’t include any actual Transformers, but I’ll assume if you’re buying it, it’s for a fan who already has or is also getting some bots along with it.

tfrescuebots-optimusThe second new toy in the line is the Optimus Prime Racing Trailer Playset. This is one of my favorite toys I’ve seen in the Playskool Heroes Rescue Bots line because it reminds me so much of my most prized possession as a kid–G1 Optimus Prime. How can you go wrong with an Optimus Prime that transforms from a truck into a robot and a trailer that can carry multiple vehicles. The playset includes Blurr but is also compatible with other car bots from the Rescan line. And when I say compatible, I am not just referring to being able to tow them around. The trailer transforms into a vehicle launcher for when you want a little more juice behind your racing.
