Take a look in your daily carry bag, the backpack (or briefcase or what have you) that you take along every morning to work or school. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

What did you see in there? Some papers, probably, and a few pens; maybe a spare smartphone charger or a magazine to read on the train; and, of course, there’s your essential tech. But if you saw both a laptop and a tablet, my friend, I am here to tell you that there is a better way.

Over the last several weeks, I’ve been sharing a selection of specially chosen devices from GeekDad’s latest sponsor, AMD, each designed to help you and your family power through your toughest tasks. Today, as we wrap up the series, we arrive at the cream of the crop, a notebook for all season, the jack-of-all-trades we call the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 touch-screen laptop.

With an AMD FX 9800P quad-core processor that dynamically adjusts to the processing speed needed for the task at hand (up to a blistering 3.40 GHz) and a 7th Generation AMD FX 9800P APU to help share the load, the Envy x360 is the very picture of perfect performance. Add to this a 7200 RPM 1TB hard drive and 8GB of DDR4 SDRAM, and this laptop is ready for whatever you throw at it.

Yet there’s more! The HP Envy x360 also boasts a 15.6-inch edge-to-edge glass touch-screen, and a hinged design to let you open it as a traditional clamshell for typing, fold the keyboard back to prop it up for an optimum viewing angle, or fold it flat to use the device as a tablet.

Here are all the details:

  1. GeekDad,
I just purchased this laptop last night from Best Buy. Everything was perfect until I learned that the 8GB Ram cannot be upgraded. In 2016/2017 8 GB’s is so basic. I would think a laptop with all the bells and whistles like this would at least be upgradeable wouldn’t you?

  2. This laptop is upgradable up to a max of 16 GB. There is however only ONE DIMM slot, so you will need to buy a single 16 GB ram card to upgrade it. The processor is powerful, the Radeon R7 GPU is what holds this pc back from being a better GAMING PC . Overall IM pleased with it.
