Today, we’re just thrilled to bring you our conversation with Clark Gregg: the one and only Agent Phil Coulson. If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (and if you’re not watching, seriously, what’s wrong with you?), then Clark certainly doesn’t need an introduction. He’s played the character in four films, numerous shorts, several animated series, and four seasons of Agents of SHIELD.

Clark has also had regular roles on The West Wing and The New Adventures of Old Christine and has been in dozens of films, including Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing. What you might not realize is that he’s also an accomplished writer (What Lies Beneath, Choke, Trust Me) and director (Choke, Trust Me).

Season 4 of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD airs on Tuesdays at 10pm on ABC. Again, if you’re not watching, you should rectify that immediately. The first three seasons are all on Netflix for your binge-viewing pleasure.

On this episode, we talk about whether Agent Coulson’s changing role as “everyman,” making an ensemble cast work, what he’d like to see in the Inhumans film, and when he’ll get back to directing. We crack open the conspiracy that his FBI Agent Casper from The West Wing was actually a deep undercover Agent Coulson and try to figure out what SHIELD’s interest in the Bartlet White House was. And we talk about the ramifications of the current real-life drama playing out in the U.S. presidential election and what Clark would say to every American voter if given the chance. (Clark was recently part of this get out the vote video that Joss Whedon made.)

Also, if you’re looking for more Agents of SHIELD awesomeness, check out our episode with Ming-Na Wen (Agent May)!
