‘Star Wars: Identities’ Exhibition Is Coming to London

Events Geek Culture

Eagle-eyed, UK-based Star Wars fans may have noticed that Canary Wharf tube station will appear in the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One. This is not the only way in which the franchise will make its presence felt in London’s Docklands. The Star Wars: Identities exhibition is coming to the O2 Arena.

Featuring over 200 original props, costumes, and artwork from the across the saga, the museum will use Star Wars to examine what makes us the people we are. According to the Identities website, the exhibition will look “at the Star Wars films—and at what makes someone who they are—through the lens of the sciences of identity. This includes genetics, neuropsychology, health sciences, and psychology.”

The exhibition will follow Anakin and Luke, from their origins on Tatooine. It will examine the mentors and influences they encountered as they progressed through life. I imagine fear, anger, and hate, may well crop up along the way. The exhibits are said to be suitable from all ages from young children to grandparents. Visitors may come dressed as Stormtroopers, but weapons should be left at home!

Currently in Munich, where it runs until October 17th, the Star Wars: Identities opens in London on November 18th, and runs through until September 3rd, 2017. UK tickets go on sale, September 30th. Ticket prices vary. An Off-Peak, Adult ticket will be £20, Child £10, and a family (2 adults, 2 children) £48. Peak times (Weekends and School holidays), Adults are £25, Children £15, and a family £60. Under fives are free.

There is, of course, a shop where some of the stunning artwork associated with the exhibition will be available to buy. You can currently do so online too, but sadly, at the moment, postage outside Europe isn’t possible.

I will certainly be hoping to visit the museum, but looking at our busy schedule, it probably won’t be until 2017. When I do go, I’ll report back on how it went.
