Here are the latest announcements and stories that caught our eyes this week:
- Paperback goes digital: Everyone’s favorite deck-building literary-game-meets-Scrabble mashup is now available for iOS. According to Uproarious Games’ Jeff Beck, the AI is ruthless.
- Days of Wonder announced The Battles of Khalkhin-Gol, the first installment in the second series of Memoir ’44 Battle Maps. The expansion will come with four ready-to-play, oversized scenarios, 6 armored cars, 6 tankettes, and 6 scenarios that can be played as a campaign.
- Eldritch Horror will see its sixth expansion, The Dreamlands. The horror game and its Lovecraftian theme may very well drive you mad. The expansion releases early in 2017.
- On the heels of last week’s review of Quartz comes another dwarven mining game. Mine All Mines, from IDW Games, will be available in January. Players must dig tunnels and craft jewelry to impress their king.
- Asmodee offered up another preview of the upcoming (and highly anticipated) Irish mythology-themed card game, Inis.
- Legendary Digital announced the availability of Alpha, a streaming video on demand subscription service that will make Geek & Sundry’s TableTop (and lots of other programming) available for just $5 a month.
- Congratulations go out to Cool Mini or Not’s Potion Explosion, which won the Gioco dell’Anno, Italy’s Game of the Year.
- In other CMON news, an Essen release was announced for Raise Your Goblets!, a deduction-based party game where players try to poison their enemies while staying alive. Comes with real goblets!
- Paizo announced pocket-sized versions of its Core Rulebook and Bestiary for Pathfinder, each is a smaller version of the regular books and retails for 50% of the hardcover price.
- Lotus, just reviewed at GeekDad, will be available in Japan, thanks to a new partnership between Renegade Game Studios and Hobby Japan. The popular game will be getting a US reprint in October.
