‘Pokémon Sun’ and ‘Moon’ Story Details Revealed, ‘Pokémon GO’ Plus Dated

The latest Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer has revealed even more about this hotly anticipated release. The video below introduces new creatures including the synthetic Pokémon Null, adorable Dragon-type Jangmo-o, and the Alolan variant of Raticate. Also revealed is Alola’s Aether Foundation, who research the rare anomalies known as Ultra Beasts, but even that’s not the most compelling revelation!

Unlike traditional Pokémon releases—which feature two titles with virtually identical gameplay experiences with only slight alterations to the available Pokémon, locations, and events—Sun and Moon promise to mix things up thanks to notable differences in timeframe. While Pokémon Sun runs on the same time as your Nintendo 3DS system, Pokémon Moon will instead be shifted by 12 hours, adding an interesting new wrinkle to their relative day/night cycles.

Pokemon GO Plus

And if that wasn’t enough Pokémon news for you this week, just yesterday Niantic and The Pokémon Company International finally gave us a firm date for the soon-to-be-released Pokémon GO device. This Bluetooth wearable will be available starting September 16th “in most countries.” (Niantic goes on to specify that South American territories should see the accessory later this year.)

While we don’t yet know when individual retailers will begin receiving product—or when those who have accepted pre-orders will begin filling them—suffice it to say that we’ll keep an ear to the proverbial ground and let you know as soon as more information becomes available.
