This week, we welcome Bill Morrison to the show. Bill is perhaps best known as one of the co-founders–with The Simpsons creator Matt Groening–of Bongo Comics, which has been the one and only home of The Simpsons and Futurama comics for almost 25 years. Bill served as Bongo’s editor and creative director for about 20 years, working on hundreds of comics and Simpsons stories.

Before Bongo, though, Bill worked for the graphic design firm that handled a lot of projects for Disney. For a while, Bill was the go-to guy for commercial Disney art: packaging, Happy Meal advertising, video release posters, and the like. Perhaps you’ve heard about the controversy surrounding a certain poster for the VHS release of The Little Mermaid? One that had a suggestive shape “hidden” in the background? Yeah, Bill was the artist on that poster. And yeah, we get the real story of how that happened.

On the episode, we chat about his time at Bongo, how they manage to keep coming up with new stories after more than 230 issues (and 27 seasons on TV), whether he ever got tired of the Springfield characters, his own series Roswell: Little Green Man,  and, of course, his time working on Disney projects and the urban legends he spawned.
