DC Legion of Collectors Brings the Ladies

This box is almost too good looking to open. Almost.

It’s always great to come home to a collector box from Funko! This month, it’s DC’s turn with a new Legion of Collectors set. The focus is on the women of the DCU – one of my favorite topics. Wonder Woman’s placement on the outside of the box is kinda perfect.

There was a shirt that I could not get a decent photo of and a Funko exclusive cover of Batgirl –the first issue of the Batgirl of Burnside arc that caught the internet by storm.

Sadly, Funko POP Raven does not appear in this issue.

As you can see, there’s also an iron-on Batgirl patch (by the end of this year, my daughter’s jacket is going to be so cool) and a Harley pin that feels oddly out of place. Why? Everything else is hero-centric.

What about the toys, you ask? First, we have a really great POP:

It's Shiera according to the paperwork, but I'm pretending it's Shayara.

Back when Justice League was on TV, Hawkgirl was my daughter’s favorite JLer, due to the fact she had “wings and a hitty thing.” Hawkgirl’s mace is on display in this fun POP figure as well.

Cool as that is, the other toy just smokes it.

"Why is Wonder Woman sitting in the middle of the air?"

That’s right, it’s the Translucent Invisible Jet! Coming with a stand and a Wonder Woman figure who sits inside it, this classic super hero accessory looks perfect. How perfect? My mother, who has no clue about Wonder Woman lore, saw my photo setup and got all excited.

“What a cool looking toy! Where did you get that?!”

That, to me, is a good sign. The only downside of the Jet is Wonder Woman slides around a bit and doesn’t exactly grip the wheel, but it’s not meant for playing as much as sitting on a desk. The figure itself has a decent sculpt, reminding me of a scaled down version of the classic Super Powers Wonder Woman figure. (Google it and be horrified, kids. That’s what we had as toys.)

All in all, another very satisfying Funko box. It will be interesting to see what they put in November’s box, which focuses on Batman bad guys.

See you then.

  1. Love it. I still love the super powers collection by Kenner. They stand string against today’s offering.
    I’ll buy her.
I hope they stick to Silver Age.
Love to see New Doom Patrol…Celsius
Negative Woman, Robot man and Tempest in 70s garb…they sell for heaps as customs.
