Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a love affair with the Periodic Table of Elements. And, thanks to books like Theo Gray’s The Elements, I’ve managed to effortlessly imbue this love in my two daughters. So when we stumble across a shirt like Heroic Elements, available now from shirt woot!, it’s a guaranteed sale.
The design by artist Chad Albers (calbers76 on woot!) is laid out in a classic Periodic Table format featuring stylized icons of heroes and villains from both major comic book pantheons (Marvel on the left, DC on the right)—complete with two-letter abbreviation—taking the place of the elements.
Albers goes deep into the different universes, showcasing 93 different heroes (and a few villains), some of which will keep all but the most hardcore comic book fan guessing. As a nice touch, the icons at 12, 13, and 14 (Antman, Wasp, and Atom, respectively) are smaller than the others because they’re tiny heroes. It’s a really well thought-out, super-fun design.
