Nintendo Announces Big Deals for Back-to-School

It’s sort of a good news/bad news situation for the Nintendo-faithful. The bad news? We still don’t have any information regarding open pre-orders for the NES Classic Edition. Okay, that’s not entirely true; pre-orders were briefly available via Toys”R”Us late last month, but the retailer’s limited supply had dried up even before I had a chance to finish penning a pointer post.

But the good news? Oh, the good news is extra good!

Starting August 26th, look for a hot new New Nintendo 3DS system bundle exclusively at Wal-Mart and Target. Boasting two sets of interchangeable Mario-themed cover plates and Super Mario 3D Land pre-installed, the Super Mario 3D Land Edition New Nintendo 3DS retails for a very reasonable $149.99. Coming in at the perfect size between the original 3DS model’s portability and the 3DS XL/New 3DS XL’s big ol’ screen, it is (in my humble opinion) the best 3DS yet.

Also on the 26th, Nintendo will welcome a number of stellar 3DS titles to its budget Nintendo Selects line. These include must-haves Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Tomodachi Life, and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the paltry price of $19.99!

Wii U releases like LEGO City Undercover, Nintendo Land, and that gorgeous HD redux of Wind Waker will also be available for 20 bones. And on September 9th, the Big N is also set to roll out a series of Wii U Games + amiibo Bundles. You’ll be able to pick up Yoshi’s Wooly World, Mario Party 10, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker complete with a compatible amiibo figure for a retail price of $39.99 ($31.99 if you pre-order with Amazon Prime).

  1. Aw man, I was all set to buy a 2DS w/Mario Kart 7, now this package comes out… Hmmm…

    1. Buy this New 3DS bundle. And the face tracking 3D will surprise you as well. You get to play Super Nintendo games only on New 3DS. You can also watch 3D movie trailers on the web browser from any site like YouTube.com.

    2. Don’t get me wrong, Jason; the 2DS is an amazing deal, but the New 3DS is my favorite iteration yet. If you have the cash and want some added horsepower, this is a great bundle, but if you’re budget-minded, the 2DS is still a solid choice.
