GeekDad Giveaway: AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Headphones

I have to admit, the idea of “bone conduction” headphones kind of scared me. They sound like something out of The Jetsons or some dystopian future where everyone wears contact lenses that double as cameras and VR devices. Come to think of it, we’re almost there now, so that “future” could pretty much be next year.

So it only makes sense that bone conduction headphones are taking off. The whole conceit here is that the sound coming out of the headphones vibrates through your cheekbones, bypasses your eardrums, and leaves your ears open to the world around you. Think about them as noise-canceling headphones in reverse.

Bone conduction headphones allow you to listen to music (or podcasts or audiobooks or whatever) while not completely sealing yourself off from the ambient noises of your immediate surroundings. If you do any activity outdoors – such as hiking, running, cycling, or weeding – you know how important it is to hear things like traffic, animals, and kids. You don’t want any of those things sneaking up on you, unannounced.

Indoors, you can listen to your music (or podcasts or audiobooks or whatever) while not isolating yourself from your family. Trust me, they’ll appreciate that.

How do they work? Surprisingly well. Don’t believe me? Check out GeekDad’s review and comparison of two AfterShokz headphones: Bluez 2S and Trekz Titanium. And now we’ve made it super easy to check them out for yourself, since we’re offering up a pair of the Trekz Titanium for one lucky reader. Enter using the widget below, and good luck!
