Summer is still in full swing, and maybe you’ve got some kids who are looking for something to do to beat the heat. Whether you’ve got a budding director under your roof or maybe just want to give your child some hands-on time with iMovie or similar app, you’ll want to head over to Kids Film It Festival, an incredible idea created by Ryan Levine, a middle school student from Ohio.
Here’s the basic idea: Ryan wants to raise money for Parkinson’s research, so he’s selected the Michael J. Fox’s organization and created a contest for three different age groups to help raise funds for the MJF organization. Maximum film submission length is 6 minutes, and age groups are 8-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Entry fee is $30 and is 100% tax-deductible, and all entrants receive a t-shirt and are entered into the contest to win one of three $500 Best Buy gift card (one per age group).
The deadline to submit is September 10, 2016, and an actual film festival has been scheduled for November 5, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. Click here to get all the details on the Kids Film It Festival website.
