‘Codenames’ Wins 2016 Spiel des Jahres

Germany’s Spiel des Jahres, or boardgame of the year, awards were announced earlier today, with Vlaada Chvatil’s Codenames taking the top prize. It beat out Imhotep by Phil Walker-Harding and Karuba by Rüdiger Dorn.

The Kennerspiel, or “Connoisseur-gamer” Game of the Year, awarded to more complex games, went to Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King by Andreas Pelikan and Alexander Pfister, beating out Matt Leacock’s Pandemic: Legacy and T.I.M.E. Stories by Peggy Chassenet and Manuel Rozoy.
