We are a big Sofia the First family. It is actually my husband Mark who has really been into the show. I know a lot of programming about princesses wouldn’t seem that appealing but Sofia is different. The arc that both my five-year-old and my husband follow closely is the Secret Library. Sofia has been given a key by her Aunt Tilly. This opens up a library to magical adventures that test Sofia and bring in favorite friends and princesses from the entire Disney universe. Mark has commented that it reminds him a lot of his Dungeons and Dragons campaigns.
Our friends at the Disney Channel sent me an exclusive clips and photos from the upcoming episode “The Secret Library: The Tale of the Noble Knight” which guest stars Blair Underwood (ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as a knight named Sir Jaxon. We are so excited to share news about this upcoming July episode and hope you are excited for this exclusive update as well.

In “The Secret Library: The Tale of the Noble Knight,” Sofia visits her secret library and learns of a story about two knights who are each in search of the magical Ice Fire Shield. Sofia sets out to help the knight who she believes is the noble knight that the book is referring to, but in the process, begins to realize that the true noble knight may not be who she originally thought.

My daughter and I really enjoy the series. However, I noticed that her amulet is pink in this episode. My understanding this is due to her freeing princess Elena of Avalor. However, why do you think it is pink now instead after the episode in which she frees her?
I know right? So confusing!
According to Craig Gerber’s twitter: he said that this and all the rest of the episodes take place after the freeing elena episode. Hope this helps. If you have twitter I would recommend following Craig Gerber. @_CraigGerber He often answers questions that fans have.

I’m french but i loved watching sofia the first in the original version and i’m confused ! i’ve watched every single episodes ( and i know about the new serie Elena of Avalor) but when does it have been an episode where elena have been freed ? I believed that episode will only came out in fall of 2016 no ?

My girls and I love the show too! I was the one who noticed the pink amulet as well! But I saw that her amulet was purple in the beginning? Oh my goodness so confused! I wonder how that works?
I would love to understand Disney’s thinking on their timeline for the Sofia special, the debut of Elena of Avalor, and the timing of Sofia’s amulet changing color. It seems so backward to me. Why wouldn’t they release the special first?
uhm hi i follow the sofia series closely and i haven’t heard or seen any major special where Sofia saves anyone from avalor, i did notice the amulets color change and the color change of everything else in accordance with it though, i was actually looking into that when i came across this site, i was hoping you could clue me in, its irritating not knowing whats going on in one of my favorite shows.

Me and my three girls are really confused as well and I was trying to find the episode where it changed and no luck. So I’m glad I found this thread where everyone else is confused as well lol.
The one and only time the amulet changes color is in the ” Take of the noble knight”. It goes back and forth between purple and pink through out the episode. Disney just dropped the ball on this one, or the just didn’t care and wanted to create new merchandise to sell. As an adult I’m forced to sit through each episode because my twins love sofia. It would be nice for some expaination. It’s hard enough to keep up with the questions of a 4 year old, thanks disney for adding to the list.
A television movie titled Elena and the Secret of Avalor is scheduled to premiere in fall 2016, which will explain how Elena was trapped in the magical amulet for decades[25] (specifically 41 years[28]) before being set free by Princess Sofia.
