June 26th marks the beginning of the Discover Channel’s annual and much-anticipated Shark Week. My children love to learn about sharks. Over the years, we have amassed quite the collection of shark-related reads! However, at 8-, 6-, and 4-years-old, my children are still too young and too sensitive to sit down and watch the Shark Week programming. We just aren’t there yet, folks! Today, I’m sharing how you can enjoy Shark Week with little kids.

So, how do you make Shark Week fun for little ones? All it takes a little thinking outside the box and a stack of great books. This year, Shark Week is even easier to enjoy thanks to Finding Dory!

*Disclosure: I received these books at no cost. I was not required to write a positive review and, as always, I only share resources that I would use with my own family and that I believe other families would enjoy.

Poor Little Guy by Elanna Allan

This story had my children belly laughing! Poor Little Guy tells the tale of a little fish who appears to be helpless and small. He is preyed upon by other, larger creatures. But, as we all know, looks can be deceiving and this fish has a trick up his sleeve!

Shark Art Tutorials by Hodgepodge

With three creative kiddos, I love to find educational materials that incorporate art. We have been having a fantastic time with Tricia Hodge’s Hodgepodge’s Shark Art Tutorials! Each ebook costs $7.99 and they are worth every penny. I cannot tell you how many hours of enjoyment we have had with these two books! For more information and to see what my children (ages 8, 6, and 4-years) have created, click here.

Discovery Kids: Shark Factivity (Parragon Books)

My children absolutely adore this Factivity series from Discovery Kids. Each kit comes with an engrossing, colorful, and fact-filled book. In addition, the kits come with a hands-on learning activity. In this kit, six shark teeth are included and my kids have been carrying them around everywhere in honor of Shark Week!
