‘Mirage: Arcane Warfare’ Preview

Gaming Videogames

Torn Banner Studios, the creator of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, appeared onstage at this year’s E3 PC Gaming Show to present its new game, Mirage: Arcane Warfare, and announce the game’s release this fall on PCs.

In Mirage, the calm of a strange fantasy world is shattered by ruthless civil war. Warriors armed with steel and magic bring violence and death as they do battle across a fantastical Arabian- and Persian-inspired setting of desert sands, market bazaars, and grand palaces.

Mirage is a skill-based multiplayer FPS that lets you tear your enemies limb from limb with destructive magic and melee combat. Experiment and find your perfect playstyle between six diverse classes including stealthy assassins, hulking brutes, powerful mages, and more. With an unparalleled focus on truly feeling in control of your magic and sword, Mirage demands combat creativity and will challenge you like never before.

As a lover of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, I look forward to seeing how Torn Banner Studios handles this more exotic take on battle. Magic seems to play a much larger role in the trailer. This may lead to some more fascinating combat and tactics. Two character classes that haven’t been demoed in detail yet—the defensive-minded Vigilist, who throws out a projectile shield and has unrivaled melee reach with her spear; and the Tinker, who lays explosive mines and employs a long-range grapple—add depth to the game. The $30 price point makes it a good choice for budget-minded gamers who want a fresh title to play. When you add up the pedigree with the look and the price, Mirage: Arcane Warfare may find its way to many players’ wish lists this fall. I know it will be on mine.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare will be available on PC in Fall of 2016 for $30 on Steam.
