It’s another election year in the United States and everyone seems to agree on one thing: NO ONE agrees on anything anymore.

That is, except, we all know being creative is awesome!

To help bring the people of the world, young and old, together again, I’ll be starting up my summertime family “Be The Artist” series, introducing art lovers of all ages and levels to the style of famous and influential artists by adding their own geeky edge.

This year’s series, running every other week through early September, will focus on some of the classic and current American artists whose work seems to make people happy. These range from the simplicity of Shag and Sandra Boynton, the hot rod era of Ed Roth and Kenny “Von Dutch” Howard, and one of the world’s most recognizable glass artists, Dale Chiluly.

I’ll start out next week with that wild and crazy groundbreaking artist…Grandma Moses. No one was telling this woman she was too old to discover her talent and pursue new dreams.

Even with the decision (or indecision for many) of election year coming this fall, at least we can take advantage of the summer months to let our minds focus on one of the greatest things about living in a the Land of the Free, or everywhere else, for that matter: Art is for everyone.
